Basketball NSW Girls Session 8 September
This Sunday, we celebrate and give thanks to God for the special gift of our fathers. We pray for fathers who are living, remember fathers who have died and are grateful for special men in our lives who have been like fathers to us. We celebrate the love of fathers on Father’s Day and are mindful that Jesus had such great love for God, whom he called Father.
We pray that all father's and father figures will feel the love and gratitude for all they give us. Have a lovely weekend with your families.
A Prayer for Fathers
God, bless all the fathers of the world.
Guide them to be good role models and loving to all their children.
Help them to be a father like You are.
Give them grace, strength, wisdom and love
to be teachers and guides
for the young who look up to them.
Amen

Attendance
At St Joseph’s, we continue to promote student attendance. Thank you to our parents for the support and value you place on your child being at school each day. Regular school attendance plays a critical role in ensuring that every student has access to the same learning opportunities. When students are not at school, late to school or leave early, they are missing out on so much that can impact on their future learning. If your child's attendance goes below the 80% threshold for overall attendance, the school is required to notify parents and begin to work together in order to improve attendance outcomes.
The Education Act (1990) clearly states that parents have a responsibility to ensure that children attend school and must provide an explanation for any absences. If your child is away from school, please advise the Office via phone 6585 1745, email waup@lism.catholic.edu.au or reply text message by 11.00 am on the day they are absent. Below is a summary report sample that would be sent home for parents information if their child came under the risk ratio.
Transition to Summer Uniform
Transition to summer uniform will take place during Week 9 and Week 10 of Term 3. September is renowned for changeable weather - we certainly hope for some sunshine and warmer conditions as we approach Term 4. Children can wear either summer or winter uniform during the last two weeks of term.Staff Spirituality Day – PUPIL FREE DAY Friday 23 September 2022
I draw your attention to the date set down for our Staff Spirituality Day, Friday 23 September 2022 – this will be a PUPIL FREE DAY and the school office will be closed.
P & F Fundraising - Chocolate Money
Please return any chocolate fundraising money or unsold chocolates prior to the end of Term.
Principal Leave
During Week 9 & Week 10 of this school term, I will be taking some leave to visit my family in Victoria. It has been a long time since I have spent time with family members. Covid regulations and the busyness of school played a part in not being able to travel to Victoria. I apologise that I will miss some special school happenings and events, notably the Dance Spectacular and end of term rewards to name a few. My thoughts and prayers are with the school community as you finally celebrate being together and enjoying the time with your children, friends and teachers. Parents will gain pleasure in acknowledging the joyful work their children have undertaken this term. I look forward to seeing the smiling faces on our Facebook posts. This platform is a wonderful means of informing parents and the community of achievements, highlights and programs within our school.
If you have any concerns or questions, as we head into the end of Term 3, Ms Sonia Solares and Mr Nigel Toole will be in charge and are more than capable of attending to your needs.
May the remainder of Term 3 be a blessing to you all and I wish you much success and joy in the coming weeks. Enjoy the many happy occasions that the spring holidays often bring.
Peace be with you,
Brendan Kiely

A Blessing Prayer for Father’s Day
Year 6 - Incitare Reflection Day
This week, our Year 6 students participated in a faith formation day. Students celebrated together and had the opportunity to reflect on their own faith as well as share and build positive relationships with others. A number of Year 10 students from St Joseph's Regional College assisted in the running of the Incitare. This day is an important day in the calendar whereby the older students lead discussions and activities which enable the younger students to grow in their faith and their confidence to share with others.
We thank all staff and students involved in the day to make it a day to grow closer to God.

NAPLAN REPORTS
Parents of students in Year 3 and Year 5 will receive a report on your child's performance in the National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests, held in May this year.
NAPLAN assesses aspects of literacy including reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation and writing, as well as numeracy.
NAPLAN tests are designed to provide you, your child and their teachers with information about how your child's learning is progressing and where they need support to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.
For information to assist in understanding your child's test results, visit https://www.educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/k-10/understanding-the-curriculum/naplan/results-and-reports
As always when it comes to academic achievement, your child's classroom teacher is best placed to provide further insight . Please make an appointment to discuss your child's educational progress if you have any questions resulting from the NAPLAN report.
