Principal Messages

Dear Parents

As we come to the end of another Term filled with achievements, social growth, and emphasis on wellbeing, I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your dedication and hard work. Together, we have made Term 1 a wonderful experience for the children.

Our students have demonstrated remarkable progress and dedication to their studies. I am immensely proud of each student’s achievements, and I commend our teachers for their unwavering commitment to excellence in education.

Moreover, our school community has thrived socially, fostering an environment of inclusive learning, respect, and friendship. Whether through the wonderful Parent Community Forum activities, or simply lending a helping hand to our school, you have all contributed to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels valued and supported.

I hope this holiday season provides an opportunity for rest, reflection, and rejuvenation. Spend time with loved ones, indulge in activities that bring you joy, and take a moment to appreciate the beauty of life around you.

Fr Felix - Appointment

I wish to inform you that Bishop Gregory Homeming of the Lismore Diocese has announced new Parish appointments which will take effect on 1 June 2025.  These appointments involve the appointment of Fr Felix to the Clarence Valley parish.

Firstly, I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Fr Felix Ekeh for his dedicated service and spiritual guidance during his time with us. Fr Felix has touched many lives within our community, and his presence will be deeply missed. Fr will be embarking on a new chapter as he moves to the Clarence Valley. We wish him all the very best in his new role and pray for his continued flourishing.

Before Fr Felix departs, we will have the opportunity to celebrate his time with us and express our appreciation for his contributions. Details regarding this farewell celebration will be shared with you during the coming weeks,  please keep an eye out for further announcements.

As we bid farewell to Fr Felix, we are also delighted to welcome our new Parish Priest, Fr Anselm Okeke. We eagerly anticipate Fr Anselm joining our Our Lady of Lourdes family and look forward to the wisdom and leadership he will bring to our Parish. We know that he will be warmly embraced by our community.

This transition marks an exciting new chapter for Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. We encourage you to welcome Fr Anselm with open hearts and continue to support our Parish community as we move forward together in faith.

Sports News

NSW PSSA Diving Championships

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news regarding one of our talented students, Edith Hornery. Today, Friday 10 April 2025, Edith proudly represented our school at the NSW PSSA Diving Championships, showcasing her dedication and skill in the pool.

In a competitive field of talented young divers from across the state, Edith achieved a remarkable 10th place overall in the 11 years girls' category. This is a significant accomplishment and a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and the support she has received.

Beyond her impressive performance, Edith also had an incredibly special experience. She had the opportunity to meet none other than five-time Olympian, Melissa Wu! This was undoubtedly an inspiring moment for Edith, providing her with a firsthand connection to the pinnacle of Australian diving. We are so delighted that Edith had this memorable encounter.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Edie on her wonderful achievement at the championships. Her commitment to diving is truly commendable, and we are so proud to celebrate her success.

Parent Community Forum

Dear Parents and Carers
As we continue the transition from P & F to the Community Forum, I would like to thank all families who donated items for the Easter Raffle.
Thanks are extended to the families who also purchased tickets. We presented 120 prizes this year.  Congratulations to all the lucky winners.
The money raised goes towards school needs, such as subsidising the bus fees for  sporting events and catering for St Joseph The Worker Feast Day.

The Community Forum members are busy organising this years Mother's Day Stall. Make sure your child does some extra chores over the holidays so they can earn a small amount of pocket money to spend at the stall. More information will come out soon.

If you are travelling in the holidays please drive safely. Our next Community Forum Meeting is Thursday 15 May 2025. We would love to see you there.

Happy Holidays
Regards

Ross (Chairperson) and the rest of the Community Forum.

CSO Child Protection Policy and Procedures 2025 with Mandatory Reporting

Child Protection Policy and Procedures

Children and young people have a fundamental right to grow, develop and feel safe in environments which are free from violence, exploitation and harm. The Catholic Schools Office, Lismore has clear expectations that all students within Catholic systemic schools in the Diocese of Lismore will be protected from all forms of harm including sexual, physical and psychological harm as well as ill-treatment and neglect.

The Catholic Schools Office and Catholic systemic schools within the Diocese have certain responsibilities and expectations to ensure the safety and protection of children in their care, including supporting measures to ensure that children and young people will be taught how to protect themselves, and to seek help if they are concerned about their safety. Consistent with its mission and values, and in compliance with its legislative obligations, the Catholic Schools Office Lismore strives to ensure children in its care are safe and secure. Implementing a variety of practices that reduces potential risk forms part of our strategy to build child safe communities.

This policy sets out the expectations required of employees in the Catholic Schools Office and in Catholic systemic schools of the Diocese. This document is to also inform and remind employees engaged or employed in Catholic systemic schools in the Diocese of Lismore of the standards of behaviour, duties, obligations and other requirements that must be adhered to when working with children.

A range of checks and undertakings are required for people who work for or provide services to Catholic Education in the Diocese of Lismore.
